Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry on Saturday, May 19, 2018, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The wedding date announcement follows the confirmation earlier this month that the ceremony would take place in May at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Clarence House announced the engagement of the couple on Monday, November 27. Prince Harry revealed in their engagement interview that he had proposed to the former Suits actress earlier in the month when they were making a roast chicken at home.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Markle will be spending Christmas at Sandringham with her new fiancé and members of the Royal Family, including the Queen.

The fact that the wedding falls on a Saturday also rules out the possibility of a bank holiday, which many were hoping for, as was the case of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in 2011.

Many of the remaining details of the wedding, such as who the bridesmaids and best man will be, whether it will be televised and which designer will make the bride's dress, are yet to be announced.
