Prince Harry's 'significant' move shows Royal Family 'are no longer a priority'

Prince Harry has made a significant move in distancing himself from his royal roots, indicating that his family ties are no longer a priority. The Duke of Sussex has officially changed his residential status from the UK to the US in documents related to his sustainable travel project, Travalyst.

When Travalyst was launched four years ago, Harry's residence was listed as the UK on Companies House. However, recent filings now state his "new country/state usually resident" as the US.

Relationship expert Louella Alderson believes this change signifies a shift in Harry's priorities.

In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, Alderson said: "Prince Harry's decision to officially declare the US as his new country of residence feels like a significant step in his distance from the Royal Family and his British roots. While Harry has been living in the US for four years, declaring it as his new usual residence officially feels like a subtle but sure way of establishing boundaries and creating a new identity separate from his royal duties.

"Harry's relationships with his family are already strained and this step sends them a message that he is not planning to return to the UK anytime soon, if at all."

Louella added: "His relationships with the Royal Family do not appear to be a priority for Harry."

The comments follow Harry's previous discussions about his life in America. On Good Morning America, he touched upon the topic of visiting the UK.

"My family and my life in California is as it is. I have got other trips planned. That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can," Harry shared.

The filing for Harry's new residential status has been retroactively applied to June 29, 2023, a date that holds significance as it was around the time he and Meghan Markle were relinquishing their Frogmore Cottage residence.

In March last year, it came to light that King Charles had requested the Sussexes to leave Frogmore Cottage, a property bestowed upon them by the late Queen following their nuptials in 2018. A representative for Harry and Meghan confirmed at the time: "We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage."

This development follows Harry's earlier revelation about potentially taking up US citizenship. Speaking to GMA, Harry admitted he's pondered becoming an American citizen, though he stopped short of confirming any application plans.

Host Will Reeve asked: "Do you feel American? " Harry responded: "Do I feel American? No... I don't know how I feel."

Reeve then asked Harry what would stop him from applying for American citizenship.

He replied: "I have no idea. I'm here standing next to these guys. The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but certainly not something that is a priority for me right now."

Relationship expert Louella Alderson said: "Harry's response to feeling American is very telling. He clearly identifies with the people of Britain and feels a sense of belonging there. However, he is also open to the possibility of becoming an American citizen in the future. This suggests that he is still figuring out his identity and where he wants to call home."

Alderson added: "Harry's relationship with Meghan is likely to play a role in his decision about whether or not to become an American citizen. If they decide to settle in the United States, he may feel more inclined to apply for citizenship. However, if they remain in the UK, he may choose to keep his British citizenship."

Overall, Harry's response to Reeve's questions suggests that he is still figuring out his identity and where he wants to call home. His decision about whether or not to become an American citizen is likely to be influenced by his relationship with Meghan and where they decide to settle.
