Yahoo News Princess Anne in Hospital With Minor Head Wounds Following Incident
The Princess Royal was taken to hospital yesterday with minor head wounds following an incident at her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire. Buckingham Palace announced her hospitalization in a statement today and said that the King’s sister was expected to make a full and swift recovery.
“The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement today.
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery. The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”
A royal source said that while the exact cause of the injuries was unconfirmed, there were horses in the vicinity and the Princess’s medical team said her injuries were consistent with potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.
After emergency services were called, Anne was accompanied to the hospital by her husband Sir Tim Laurence. She is expected to be able to return home later this week. A royal source said that her siblings and Prince William were informed last night.
The incident means that Princess Anne, 73, has been forced to pull out of upcoming engagements. She will no longer fly to Canada at the end of this week and will be unable to attend engagements in the UK this week including the State Banquet with the Emperor of Japan tomorrow evening. “Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” Buckingham Palace said about postponed engagements.
