Princess Charlotte's cheeky response when an aide attempted to assist her with a delightful gift has been revealed.

The young royal, often referred to as 'the one in charge' by her mother, Kate Middleton, has certainly grown in confidence over the years. She has won over the public during Royal engagements and even manages to keep her two brothers under control.

Her independence was on full display back in 2019 during the annual Christmas Day service with her family. At just four years old, Charlotte joined her mother after the service to greet well-wishers outside the church. One fan presented the little Princess with a bouquet of white roses, which she seemed to adore.

Aides typically handle bouquets so that the royals can freely engage with others. However, when an aide offered to hold Charlotte's flowers, she firmly shook her head, refusing to let go, reports the Mirror.

She held onto the bouquet as she returned to Sandringham House with the rest of the Royal family. Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously told the Mirror: "Charlotte is the most buoyant and outgoing of the three Cambridge children. It's that strength of character that will stand her in good stead when she's older."

The late Queen had also commented on her great-granddaughter's charming personality back in 2018. At the time, she was presenting a book to ten year old school student, Emily Clay.

According to Town and Country, when the Queen asked a student if she looked after her younger sister, Emily's mother responded, "It's the other way around," to which the Queen replied, "It's like that with Charlotte and George".

Charlotte is also known for being protective of her younger brother, Prince Louis. A photo released by William and Kate for Charlotte's third birthday showed her cradling baby Louis in her lap and planting a tender kiss on his sleeping head.

The young princess was also seen doting on her baby brother in pictures from Louis' christening in 2018. While everyone else posed for the camera, Charlotte only had eyes for Louis, lovingly looking at him and holding his hand.

And it seems Louis admires his older sister. In 2021, Prince William shared that their family of five enjoys playing music in the morning and dancing around the house.

"Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything," the proud father revealed. "She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing."
