Protesters Blast Live Go-Go Music to Drown Out Trump's Nomination Acceptance Speech

Protesters threw a street party in Washington DC on August 27, playing live go-go music in an attempt to drown out President Trump’s Republican presidential nomination acceptance speech.

Lis Meyers filmed footage of the party near the Washington Monument, with protesters dancing while a man dunks a basketball.

The protest organizer, Long Live GoGo said the protest aimed to “drown out his racist rhetoric with another vision for the future of our country.”

Go-go music is a longtime DC signature sound and emerged as a “battle anthem for activists fighting fast-moving gentrification in the nation’s capital”, appearing regularly in recent anti-racism protests, a media outlet reported. Credit: Lis Meyers via Storyful
