Protesters Set Off Dynamite Charges in La Paz
No injuries were reported after protesters blew dynamite charges in Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, on Thursday, July 23, taking a door off the interior ministry and likely setting ablaze the adjoining German embassy, government and local reports said. This video shows parts of the half-hour spate of protests by miners and others with Comcipo, an organization representing Potosi province, that broke out after economic development negotiations failed.
Police dispersed some of the protests with tear gas. The mayor of La Paz, prior to the event, asked the Comcipo group not to resort to violence in the city. Credit: Facebook/Bolivian Ministry of Communication
