Protests at Polish law reform bill

Thousands of protesters took to the streets of the Polish capital Warsaw on Sunday evening in demonstrations against a government bill to take control of the Supreme Court. The bill will force Supreme Court judges into early retirement and allow new judges to be appointed by the Justice Ministry. Critics insist the legislation is an attempt by president Duda and his right-wing Law and Justice Party to gain more power but the party says it is simply carrying out much needed judicial reform.
