South Stand regular Frances Milner has been appointed chief executive officer of Leeds United Foundation, the club’s official charity. Ms Milner has more than 25 years of experience in the third sector and will now take up a key position in her hometown at the club she supports.

Whites chief executive Angus Kinnear said: “We are excited for the future of the Leeds United Foundation with Frances at the helm. Frances has a proven track record in the charity sector and we now look forward to her driving the foundation in a positive trajectory.

Leeds United are committed to making a difference to the community and huge strides have been made over recent years in reconnecting with people in the local area through various programmes and activities, having a positive impact on their lives and wellbeing.”

Ms Milner was most recently working as director of fundraising and marketing at The Prince’s Trust for four years. Prior to that, she was with Cancer Research UK for 10 years, across a number of senior roles.

Speaking to the cancer charity in 2020, Ms Milner revealed her passion for the Whites and where she sits at Elland Road on matchday.

"I work in London, but live in Leeds," she said. "So, my biggest priority at the weekend is spending time with my family. I love getting my wellies on and being outdoors.

"I walk a lot in the Dales and the Lakes and I’m also a keen gardener. One of the things that’s special about my garden is a lot of the plants have been given to me by supporters, family and friends over the years.

"In that respect, my garden is a real sense of who I am. And then finally, I’m a Leeds United fan. On Saturdays, you’ll find me in the South Stand at Elland Road."

Chair of Leeds United Foundation, James Rogers, said: “I’m really pleased Frances has joined the foundation as its CEO. The foundation is constantly looking for ways to deliver for the local community and we have experienced real growth in recent years.

“Last year [it] served over 43,000 participants in the city and surrounding areas. Frances joins us with a wealth of experience in the charity sector.

“I look forward to working closely with Frances and the foundation’s trustees and staff to continue to deliver some fantastic programmes for the communities of Leeds.”
