Paris Saint-Germain believe that Dele Alli wants to join them on a season-long loan deal.

The Champions League finalists are also increasingly confident that a deal can be struck with Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closes on October 5 with Alli understood to be keen on the move to give him a fresh start.

The two clubs have a good relationship with PSG having sold Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier to Tottenham in recent seasons. There is also a growing sense that loaning Alli out for the rest of this campaign could benefit all parties.

The permanent transfer of Alli is not being discussed by the clubs and PSG only appear interested – for now – in a loan which may also suit Daniel Levy. The Spurs chairman would be reluctant to allow the midfielder to leave to a Premier League rival.

Telegraph Sport revealed on Sunday that talks had taken place to sign Alli who has fallen out of favour with Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho and has not even been included in the past two match-day squads after being substituted at half-time during the defeat at home to Everton.

There is also interest in the 24-year-old from Inter Milan whose coach Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of the England international. However the Serie A club may struggle to even finance a loan move.

Mourinho's recent treatment of Alli, who was offered to Real Madrid on loan as part of the negotiations to bring Gareth Bale back to Spurs and sign left-back Sergio Reguilon, has left some of his team-mates stunned. The player himself is understood to be confused and upset at his treatment from Mourinho.

With the European Championships taking place next summer, Alli cannot afford to sit on the substitutes' bench all season if he wants to win back his England place having been left out of recent squads by Gareth Southgate.
