Jersey is set to celebrate the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla next month with a new public holiday. This marks the first visit by a reigning monarch since the late Queen's visit in 2005, according to Birmingham Live.

The cost to Jersey taxpayers for this public holiday is estimated at around £700,000 in wages for civil servants taking the day off, as reported by the BBC. As Jersey operates under its own governance, separate from the UK in many ways, mainland British residents will not be granted the same holiday on July 15.

Nevertheless, there are several bank holidays still to come in the UK in 2024, reports Cambridgeshire Live.
