A second Welsh school is in partial lockdown just days after an incident saw three people hurt at a different school. Police are at Ebbw Fawr learning community in Ebbw Vale after threats were allegedly made to a teenager.

The move comes two days after an incident at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, also known as Amman Valley School, in Ammanford in which three people including two teachers were injured. A girl has appeared in court court accused of three counts of attempted murder of two teachers and a pupil following Wednesday's incident.

Police have issued a statement on the ongoing lockdown. A Gwent Police spokesperson told Walesonline: "We received a call to report that Ebbw Fawr Learning Community had been placed in partial lockdown at around 10.20am after a teenage pupil had allegedly received threatening messages.

"Our officers are in attendance. We have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of making threats.

"The arrest did not take place on school premises and was not in the Ebbw Vale area. Our enquiries are ongoing."

Pupils had reportedly been hiding under desks. One teacher at the school said he had been told to remain in the classroom.

In an email he said he did not know the reason saying: "Your guess is as good as mine. We are still in our classrooms waiting for more news."

Walesonline was also told the staff and pupils were calm with a teacher saying: "The teaching staff are doing a fantastic job keeping the pupils calm."

He said pupils were now playing interactive educational quiz games and watching documentary films to keep occupied. "I guess other teachers also have the ' keep business as usual' demeanour. Its our job to make the pupils feel safe and secure and they reflect how we act," he added.
