Queen have found an unreleased song featuring Freddie Mercury

Queen have discovered a previously unreleased song featuring vocals from Freddie Mercury.

Roger Taylor and Brian May revealed the news during an appearance on Zoe Ball's show on BBC Radio 2.

Taylor told listeners: “We did find a little gem from Freddie that we’d kind of forgotten about. And it’s wonderful. Actually, it was a real discovery. It’s from the Miracle Sessions and I think it’s going to be out in September.”

May also revealed how they found the track: “It was kind of hiding in plain sight. We looked at it many times and thought, ‘Oh no, we can’t really rescue that’.

"But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, ‘OK, we can do this and this’. It’s like stitching bits together. But it’s beautiful. It’s touching.”

Taylor also said: "It's a very passionate piece."

Since Mercury's death from complications relating to AIDS in 1991, Queen have released a number of previously unheard tracks featuring the singer.

In 2014, the band released Queen Forever, a compilation album featuring songs from the 1980s that had been recorded but not placed on any album.

Queen + Adam Lambert most recently performed at the Platinum Party at the Palace to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

They performed a medley of some of their biggest hits including We Will Rock You, Don't Stop Me Now and We Are the Champions.

Queen + Adam Lambert are currently on tour and are set to perform three dates at London's O2 Arena this week before returning to play a run of six shows from the 14 to the 21 June.

They will then tour Europe visiting cities such as Berlin, Amsterdam and Madrid.

Lambert has performed lead vocal duties for the band since 2011. He replaced Paul Rodgers who had toured with the band between 2004 and 2009.

Queen did not tour between Mercury's death and Rodgers' joining of the group.
