Queens stabbings: Three babies among five slashed in shocking attack at New York nursery

At least six people, including three babies, have been stabbed at a nursery in New York.

Police said a baby girl is in a serious condition in hospital following the attack in the Queens neighbourhood just before 4am.

Another baby girl and boy, plus a man and a woman, were also stabbed although their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

New York police said a 52-year-old woman was found in the basement of the nursery in Flushing. She had also suffered injuries and was taken into police custody at hospital.

Police have not released a possible motive for the attack, which took place at a home operating as a daycare centre.

It has emerged that the woman who was attacked was a worker at the centre, while the man was the father of one of the children. None of their ages has been released by police.
