Radio 1 have announced when tickets will go on sale for its Big Weekend in Hull, as well as how many will be up for grabs.

The event, which takes place at Burton Constable Hall on May 27 and 28, will see 50,000 tickets go on sale on Monday, April 10 at 9.10am.

The tickets themselves are free, though there will be an admin fee of £8.50 for each ticket. And a majority of them will be given to those who live in Hull and surrounding areas – so that will include Hull, York, Doncaster and Lincoln postcodes.

As you can imagine, tickets will be pretty in demand, and you can find out more information and all the small details here.

This year's Big Weekend will see Katy Perry headline the first night of proceedings, with other acts announced so far including Little Mix, Stormzy and Kings of Leon.

"Well happy Katy Perry is coming to Hull. She's one of my favourite popstars to see and also loves a good night out, which I'm sure Hull will provide," Radio 1's Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw said after the singer was announced.

The event is set to coincide with Hull being the UK City of Culture for 2017.

Last year's event was held in Exeter, and included performances by Coldplay, Mumford & Sons and Ellie Goulding.
