After six years of continuous expansion, the British weather put the brakes on Stokesley’s Classics on Show growth last Saturday.

Yet despite threatening overcast skies, about 500 cars, motorbikes, campervans, tractors and commercial vehicles turned out at Stokesley Showfield to ensure the event, organised by Stokesley Rotary, remains the biggest of its type in North Yorkshire.

The rain came down torrentially in the afternoon, calling a halt to the planned parade and prompting exhibitors and visitors attending to head for home.

“It was disappointing, but the weather was the one factor beyond our control,” explained Chris Mayes of Rotary Stokesley. “Nevertheless, the vehicle display was excellent, we welcomed close to 1,000 visitors and our new site layout meant the flow of entrants and visitors was the best yet.”

The show committee is now busy planning for the 2025 event, which will be held on Saturday, June 14.

“We have more improvements up for consideration and we hope the weather will kinder to us next year,” added Mr Mayes.

Profits from Classics on Show go to local and Rotary charities.
