“Rancor” set to be unveiled to the public

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A film primarily filmed in Dothan and Enterprise is set to be unveiled next month.

The movie is called “Rancor”.

An action crime thriller about a girl who witnessed her parent’s murder, so she sets out to find the killer, but she discovers a terrible truth about her past and her future.

It was directed by Wiregrass native Jesse Frank.

“I would love for people to be entertained number one, Frank said. “That’s my number one goal and number two I would like for them to see what is possible here in Dothan.”

The movie was primarily filmed in Dothan, while they also filmed a few scenes in Enterprise with actors and actresses from across the tri-state.

“I was in it and after I watched it back I was still shocked, but for the most part to be able to come away and say, ‘I know those people, those locations, that’s where I am from, and I am proud to be here,” says Dothan native and actor, Rudon Brannon said.

“If you love suspense I think they will be enthralled and pleased with the suspense that is in this particular project,” Actor Alonzo Russell said.

Frank got the inspiration for this film from another movie franchise that he enjoyed watching when he was growing up.

“I am a big fan of the ‘Jason Bourne’ franchise and for as long as I can remember I have been trying to make that movie without making that movie exactly, so it’s a lot like those movies if you like those,” says Frank.

The movie will be available on YouTube and Vimeo to watch, but if you want to watch it in theaters you can do so at Enterprise at Clark Cinema 10 from March 15 to March 21.

“Run them over with demands and let’s make this movie in Dothan, Alabama pop off, so we can bring more film work down here,” says Russell.

Frank says that he hopes this film inspires a future generation of filmmakers in the Wiregrass.

“Rancor” will be released on the streaming platforms on March 21.
