Rapist who sent Snapchat message of attack to victim's friends jailed for 11 years

A man who filmed himself raping a woman before sending a Snapchat message to her friends has been jailed for 11 years.

Aziz Khan, 22, of Heron Street, Heron Cross, pleaded guilty to rape and disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court last Thursday.

The court was told that Khan raped the woman in Stoke in April 2017 and sent a 10-second Snapchat video of the attack to friends of the victim.

On Tuesday he was jailed for 11 years and two months, he was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Constable Ann Blairs, of the Staffordshire Constabulary’s CID North team, said: “This was a very serious offence and Khan will serve a prison sentence for what he has done.

“I want to commend the victim for having the courage to come forward and have the confidence in us to bring this case before the courts. I also want to thank her family and friends for their support.”
