Rare Albino Stingray Spotted Looking For a Feast in Sea off Australia

A rare albino smooth stingray was spotted swimming under the waters of Port Phillip Bay in Victoria, Australia, looking for a feast, video shows.

Marine biologist Sheree Marris told Storyful that the sighting was “about as rare as winning the lottery,” as albinism for marine mammals presents several life-threatening challenges.

It is not the first time that the marine animal was spotted looking for its dinner on the Mornington Peninsula, with Marris stating that the stingray was fondly nicknamed Crystal by locals.

Marris regularly documents the local marine life for her Instagram account. Credit: Sheree Marris via Storyful
