Are you ready for this year’s Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone?

The 2024 Formula 1 British Grand Prix is soon set to thrill fans near the Oxfordshire border as police have issued advice to those planning to make the trip.

Officers from Northamptonshire Police have issued advice for those heading to Silverstone in just under two weeks' time.

An estimated 480,000 people are expected to flock to the race track for the four-day event which takes place between July 4 and 7, with a record-breaking crowd set to be in attendance to watch Sunday’s main race.

This year’s event will also include concerts by Stormzy and Kings of Leon while giant screens will also be showing coverage of the Euros, including a potential England quarter-final.

Officers across teams including armed response, roads policing, detectives and search teams - including dogs - will support uniformed officers and staff and volunteers at the event.

He warned crime levels were low last year and if people commit a crime there is a high likelihood they will get caught.

Police had offered advice on crime prevention including removing valuable items from cars and tents, as well as downloading anti-theft apps on phones.

Attendees are advised to not take more money than is needed and to be careful when drinking alcohol.

Silverstone hosted the first Formula One Grand Prix championship race in 1950, which was won by Giuseppe “Nino” Farina in an Alfa Romeo with King George VI among those watching on.
