'Real life Grinch' caught on camera slashing inflatable snowman

The spirit of Christmas was sadly lacking in one Missouri resident last weekend, when he cruelly stabbed an inflatable snowman just for kicks.

The attack happened when two-year-old Frosty was standing innocently in owner Jeff Diggs’ front yard.

Then, under cover of darkness, a white man “possibly in his mid 20s with a bandanna covering his face” stepped from a nearby car and stabbed the helpless snowman.

Luckily security-conscious Jeff had his snowman under CCTV surveillance, meaning the whole sorry episode has been caught on camera.

As Frosty deflated, the vandal hopped back in the car and exited the scene.

Jeff told Fox News: “It’s just mean-spirited. It’s silly vandalism. It looks like a couple of kids having fun. But while it may be fun to you, it hurts other people.”

Jeff then did the only thing he felt he could do given the circumstances – he posted the CCTV footage online, alongside a satirical Go Fund Me page appealing for help towards Frosty’s medical expenses.

Jeff said he wrote it “from a humor perspective to kind of make me feel better about what had happened. There’s a lot of outrage, you can tell people are outraged. you can tell people are disgusted about what took place, the senselessness of it.”

Any donations received will go to a genuine good cause, St Louis Christmas charity Judge Joe Murphy’s Good Kids In Need.

Mr Diggs told Fox News he hopes that the incident will encourage better behaviour among his neighbours going forward.

He said: “This is a nice place to live and I want to try and keep it that way. So if we all at least make everyone aware of what happens, more eyes on the street, more people paying attention to what’s going on, hopefully those kinds of senseless acts will decrease.”
