A Real-Life Titanic Replica Is To Set Sail In 2018

It is widely regarded as the most ill-fated voyage of all time, but a fully functioning replica of the Titanic will now set sail in 2018.

Australian billionaire Clive Palmer and his company Blue Star Line is set to construct the Titanic II - which will be physically identical to the original ship.

And in keeping with the first version, the new vessel will offer first, second and third class tickets to those sailing on its modern voyage.

The only significant change is the route - it won’t be emulating the original on a voyage from Southampton to New York.

Instead, Palmer’s new vessel will make a maiden voyage in 2018 from Jiangsu in eastern China to Dubai.

Speaking to the Independent, Blue Star Line’s marketing director James McDonald revealed: ‘The new Titanic will of course have modern evacuation procedures, satellite controls, digital navigation and radar systems and all those things you’d expect on a 21st century ship.’
