On Saturday, Meghan Markle came out to watch her friend Serena Williams in the Wimbledon Women's Singles final in London. This year, she went with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, but Meghan's actually been a regular spectator at the tournament. She made one big style change for 2018.

Even though she brought her signature fedora, she didn't wear it the entire match. She kept it on her lap.

So, why carry your hat without actually wearing it? It turns out there's yet another royal protocol responsible, sort of. Meghan got to sit in the Royal Box this year - a special area by Centre Court that seats 74 VIPs, including royals and heads of government around the world. And while these are the best seats in the house, there's a dress code, natch.

The official Wimbledon website says, "Protocol - dress is smart, suits/jacket and tie, etc. Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them." So basically, no fedora for Meghan.

Hat or no hat, Meghan Markle made it work-as usual. She looked amazing in her sunnies, pin-striped blue and white button down, and flowy white trousers. Although Serena may not have won (the score was 6-3, in German player Angelique Kerber's favor), she looked like she had a good time.
