Rebecca Romijn's daughters are big fans of their mom.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the 84th Annual Peabody Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., the actress, 51, shared that her twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly, 15, seem to favor their mom at the moment over their dad and Romijn's longtime husband, actor Jerry O'Connell, 50.

"Dads are different with them," Romijn tells PEOPLE. "We have a very different relationship. My girls want me there all the time." However, the star notes that it's "pretty cool to have Jerry" as a dad, as well.

"They're funny girls," Romijn continues. "And I like being with them because they're going to be 16 in December, which means I've only got two and a half years left with them until they're out of the house. So I want to take as much time as I can to run around with them."

In January, O'Connell shared an adorable photo on Instagram of Romijn with Charlie as they sat down for a weekend brunch. The mother-daughter duo posed with their faces together, smiling as they snuggled up in a restaurant booth.

"Brunch dates," O'Connell captioned his picture.

That same month, O'Connell and Romijn shared photos from their beach vacation with their daughters as the two teenagers celebrated their 15th birthday.

"Happy 15th Dolly and Charlie. Please slow down, it’s going too fast...," the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post.

Days later, the family shared a selfie together. "Feliz Año Nuevo from ours to yours," the caption read.

In 2022, Romijn revealed that her daughters are becoming Trekkies. Speaking with PEOPLE at the annual Star Trek Day event in Los Angeles, the actress revealed that her two daughters have got into the sci-fi show — with one small caveat.

"They're down with it ever since they found out Paul Wesley is a part of it," Romijn admitted. "They were like, 'Did you say Paul Wesley? Oh, we're on board. We are 100% on board,' " she continued. "And now I've been indoctrinating a lot of 11-year-old girls."

Romijn went on to share some of the questions she's been fielding from her daughters' friends. "All these 11-year-old girls are coming out of the woodwork going, 'Is Paul Wesley a part of your team now?' " she recalled.
