Rebel Wilson's biggest revelations from her book

The Pitch Perfect star has named several celebrities in the shocking revelations she makes in her autobiography Rebel Rising.

Rebel Wilson's autobiography has had its release date pushed back in the UK, following several shocking revelations she has made.

The Pitch Perfect star has just published her memoir Rebel Rising in the US, but the publication date in the UK and Australia has been delayed, and is now scheduled for 25 April. Publisher HarperCollins said its release "in the UK and Australia has been moved to coincide with Rebel Wilson's press tours".

Australian actor Wilson, 44, has made several shocking allegations in the new book, including sexual harassment allegations against Sacha Baron Cohen, why she believes singer Adele "hates" her and naming the actor who took her virginity at the age of 35.

Here is a quick run down on all the nitty gritty details Wilson has included in her tell-all book.

Actor who took her virginity

Wilson reveals in a chapter titled Late Bloomer, the Bridesmaids star revealed she did not lose her virginity until she was 35 years old. She revealed it happened with US actor Mickey Gooch Jr, who she met while filming rom com How To Be Single in 2016 in New York.

The comedian and actor confessed that "as a big girl, no one could ever truly find me sexually attractive", and added that she was at her "highest weight" at the time. But when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer she felt the fragility of life and was motivated to "experience sex". After a month of dating Gooch she decided to make the move and that she "high fived" herself afterwards.

Wilson includes a special message to the actor in her book, writing: "And, Micks, I know this might be news to you if you are reading this, but yes I lost my virginity to you."

Sacha Baron Cohen allegations

Wilson has named Sacha Baron Cohen as the "a**hole" who tried to block her publishing her memoir, and accused him of sexual harassment.

The two comedians worked together when Wilson starred as Baron Cohen's wife in his 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby. and has spoken out on social media about being "bullied" with the threat of legal action for an "a**hole" she writes about working with. The Australian actor has named the subject of that chapter as Borat star Baron Cohen.

Before making direct allegation about the Ali G star Wilson has publicly spoken about some of the things that happened on the set of the film, hinting she was not happy.

A spokesperson for Baron Cohen told Yahoo UK: "While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby."

Adele confusion

Wilson has claimed that British singer Adele "hates me" because people use to confused them for one another. Wilson rose to fame as a plus size performer, as did the Someone Like You singer, before they both embarked on losing weight.

The Cats star said: "Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me. There was a moment when she was bigger, and some people would confuse us for one another … I am assuming, because to be fair I’ve never asked her."

Wilson admitted she did not know for certain if Adele actually dislikes her, but claimed the Skyfall singer appeared to avoid her at public events they both attended. She added: "As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than 30 seconds."

Complicated paternal relationship

Wilson recalled her father being abusive to her and her family when she was a child. The Australian star revealed her mother had wanted to call her Rebel but her father had refused and so she was named Melanie Elizabeth Bownds.

But her mother finally ended the relationship when Wilson was 17. The Pitch Perfect star wrote: "She’d finally mustered the courage after all those awful years and wised up to the fact that she deserved more." And at the same time she made the decision to change her name to Rebel.

But despite the difficult and estranged relationship with her father, Wilson revealed how difficult she found it when he died of a heart attack in 2013. She said: "Even though we had complicated feelings toward my father, it was so tragic. He’d literally just cleaned up his whole life, he was trying, and now he was dead."

Secret tennis player love

Wilson came out as gay in June 2022, announcing on social media she had met her "Disney Princess" in her now fiancee Ramona Agruma. But it later emerged that she had been put under pressure to come out, as the Sydney Morning Herald had told her the were planning to 'out' her in a news story.

In her book Wilson admits it took her time to accept her own sexuality. She wrote: “Sure, deep down inside I never thought I was 100 percent straight. But I never knew what to call that. I just ignored the not-straight part of me." She added: “I don’t think of myself as ‘gay'. I don’t really want to define myself... I just believe that sexuality is much more nuanced and complicated than what society makes it out to be."

Wilson did reveal that before coming out, her relationship with a woman had been “complicated long-distance thing” with an unnamed professional tennis player.

Steamy first date with her princess

Wilson also revealed she met fiancee Agruma after they a were introduced to each other over text by a mutual friend in November 2021. The star wrote about how they just "connected" in the bedroom on their first in-person date and it was "beautiful".

The couple are both big Disney fans and got engaged at Disneyland in February 2023. Wilson recalled of the proposal: "I tell her how special she is to me. And then I get down on one knee and open the ring box. I end with 'So in this cliché way, on this cliché day, Ramona Agruma, will you marry me?' 'Yes,' she says through the tears streaming down her face."

The pair are now parents to daughter Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson, who was born via surrogate in November 2022. Both mothers were present at her birth and Wilson cut the umbilical cord.

Weight-loss confessions

Wilson admitted that she has used controversial drug Ozempic along her weight-loss journey. The actor previously called 2020 her "year of health" and documented her exercise and diet regime on social media.

In her book she has admitted using Ozempic, saying: "Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good." She later clarified that she no longer uses the drug.

But she also addressed her mental health and admitted she was an emotional eater and suffers from self-esteem issues. She said: “I emotionally eat. I overeat. I’m addicted to sugar... "I know that at 39 years old, I've trashed my body with junk food, I guess because deep down I think of myself as trash."

Health problems

Wilson revealed that she was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) at the aged of 21, a hormonal condition that can cause acne, weight gain, excessive body hair and fertility problems. And she also has irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and is “mildly intolerant” to gluten and dairy.

She shared how her weight-loss journey had been about harvesting eggs so she could become a mother and revealed she only had one viable embryo at the end of the process.

Doctors when recommended that due to her PCOS she should use a surrogate. Wilson said: "It has taken a lot to bring little Roycie into the world — over three years of trying, five egg-harvesting cycles — but now she’s here, and she is absolutely perfect."
