Rebel Wilson has told how her mum's dream was for her to become a dog show professional, following in her family's footsteps of competing with Beagles.

Wilson also spoke about her autobiography Rebel Rising and her hopes for a fourth film in the Pitch Perfect franchise. Australian actor Wilson has starred in box office hits including Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids and Bachelorette.

The Pitch Perfect star might have had incredible Hollywood success but she told The One Show that her mum had been disappointed by her choice of career to begin with because she wanted to see her continue the family business.

She said that her mum had enrolled her in drama classes because she was "painfully shy" but had not envisaged that she would become a famous actor and comedian.

Wilson said: "When she put me into the drama classes it was more to help me find my voice and connect with other teenagers. She first wanted me to be a professional dog shower. That was her dream for me because I come from a professional dog showing family.

"I come from a long line of amazing dog showers of the British breed Beagles. Her second dream was that I become a lawyer. So I really disappointed her."

She added: "We're a quite conservative family. She didn't like to see me on TV swearing, wearing crazy outfits or having my stomach hanging out." But she added: "She since changed her mind when I started getting in Hollywood films and she comes over to the premiere, meeting Brad Pitt."

However, Wilson's mum was a big fan of the Pitch Perfect films, even attending a week of the cast's a cappella bootcamp in training for the musical scenes.

Wilson raised fans' hopes of a fourth film in the Pitch Perfect franchise, saying: "I hope so. It's in development at Universal so I hope we get the call because we're all just really good friends from those movies. We've done three already and we really want to do more. Here's hoping."

Wilson has recently published her autobiography, Rebel Rising, where she details her fertility experiences in becoming a mum.

She said: "My book covers so many things people are really relating to. Weight issues, self worth, fertility, sexuality, I go through the whole gambit."

Wilson is a mum of one child who was born via surrogacy and said of visiting a doctor to freeze her eggs: "He looked me up and down and said, well you'd have a much better chance if you were healthier. That criticism hit me but I knew he was right.

"I knew even though I was so body positive and loving my life, I was indulging in some unhealthy eating behaviours. The desire to have a child was really the kicker for getting healthy."

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
