Rebel Wilson To Make West End Debut In Guys And Dolls Musical

Rebel Wilson is set to make her West End debut – with an appearance in the classic musical Guys And Dolls!

The Pitch Perfect star will play the role of nightclub singer Miss Adelaide in the production at London’s Phoenix Theatre from the end of June.

The Australian-born actress made the exciting announcement on social media, tweeting to her 2.4 million followers: “Proud to announce that I will be joining the West End cast of GUYS & DOLLS for 8 weeks only at the Phoenix Theatre, playing Miss Adelaide!”

Rebel said of the casting: “A lot of people who know me from my more recent film work have no idea how much theatre has influenced my life.

"I saw my first musical at age 14, a show called 42nd Street, after one of my family’s dogs had unsuccessfully auditioned to be in it. It blew me away and I’ve loved musical theatre ever since.”

The 36-year-old star also spoke about her previous experience with the stage, proving that her talents really are endless.

"Training at the Australian Theatre for Young People gave me the opportunity to perform onstage in 8 productions ranging from new Australian musicals to classic plays. I then went on to write and perform in my own productions before being snapped up to do screen work,” she explained.

She concluded by saying: "I am delighted to be making my West End debut in Guys & Dolls and to be playing such an iconic role as ‘Miss Adelaide’ is truly an honor. Hopefully I crush it… but you’ll have to come and see me to find out!”

The production is based on the book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows and follows the story of the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings, including the character of Miss Adelaide as one of the lead roles.

Furthermore, the hilarious actress is returning to the popular Pitch Perfect franchise for the third movie, which will be out in 2017.
