Redcar Races Ladies Day: Timings, best dressed, parking and everything else you need to know

It is one of the highlights of the social calendar on Teesside.

Redcar Races Ladies' Day returns for the 2024 season on Saturday promising a full race card at the popular seaside course as well as a day filled with glamour, high fashion and plenty of fun. Traditionally, the meeting sees Teesside racegoers dress up in their very best for the event and there is a colourful spectacle of outfits, hats, heels and handbags on parade - as well, of course, as the horses there for the racing action on the day.

When is Ladies' Day?

Saturday, June 22.

What time do the gates open?

Redcar Racecourse will open for the day at 11am.

How much do tickets cost and where can I get them?

Grandstand Enclosure Admission is £18 in advance or £20 on the day. Course Enclosure Admission is £7 in advance or £8 on the day.

Under 18s get in free into both enclosures and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Concessions are also available on the day for those aged 65 and over and students with a valid student card.

What time does the racing start?

The first race is at 1.45pm. The last race is at 5.30pm. There are 7 races in total.

Times are provisional and will be confirmed 48hrs before the race meeting once declarations have been finalised.

Food and drink

Picnics are permitted in the Course Enclosure only and there are a number of picnic benches around the enclosure. Racegoers can take alcohol into the Course Enclosure but it is limited to personal consumption only - 4 cans or 1/2 bottle of wine per person. Spirits, glass bottles, BBQs and gazebos are not allowed.

Racegoers can't take their own food or drink into the Grandstand Enclosure.

What is the dress code?

Redcar does not operate a formal dress code so you can wear whatever you like. Ladies' Day is a day when racegoers tend to dress to impress but you don't have to dress up if you don't want to, and jeans are equally acceptable.

There is no need for men to wear suits and ties either - racegoers are advised to wear smart casual clothing and dress for the weather.

Is there a fashion show, the best hat competition and the best dressed lady competition?

A fashion show will takes place, as well as Best Hat and a Best Dressed Lady competitions.

Are there prizes on offer?

Prizes will be given in the Best Dressed Lady and Best Hat competitions.

How to enter the best dressed lady and best hat competitions

If you'd like to be considered for the Best Hat and Best Dressed Lady competitions all you need to do is have your photograph taken by the best dressed team.

If you are selected as a finalist you will be contacted via telephone and invited to the Winners’ Enclosure for the competitions. The judging of the Best Hat Competition will take place in the Winners' Enclosure.

Is Ladies Day just for women?

No - men and children are welcome. Accompanied children under 18 are admitted free to all of Redcar's race meetings.

What else is on?

As well as the full race card, there will also be some great outfits on show in the Betty Leigh Boutique fashion show.

Where is Redcar Racecourse and can I park there?

The Grandstand Enclosure and main entrance is off Redcar Lane in Redcar town centre, satnav postcode TS10 2FD. Pre-paid ticket holders and annual badge holders can also enter via the Course Enclosure. There is no access via Lumley Road which is exit only.

For the Course Enclosure ticketholders, racegoers can enter via West Dyke Road, Redcar, satnav postcode TS10 1HT. There will be no access via the Grandstand Enclosure.

There is free parking on site for both Enclosures. You can also park in the trackside car park but spaces must be booked when you buy your Grandstand admission tickets. Racegoers are advised not to book a Grandstand Trackside Parking space if they are going into the Course Enclosure.
