Nigel Farage is the leader of Reform UK and challenging the seat of Clacton, Essex, as his battleground. The 60 year old, who last year took part in the reality TV show I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, enjoys a peaceful life away from the spotlight and lives near the Bromley border in the quaint village of Downe.

Farage was born on April 3, 1964, in Farnborough, London. He went to grammar schools in West Wickham and Eden Park in Bromley before going to Dulwich College, reports Kent Live.

He lives in Downe, in the London Borough of Bromley, a quaint village surrounded by countryside, farms, golf courses and large private homes.

The main attraction of the village is Down House, once owned by Charles Darwin, is now owned by English Heritage and open to the public.

Visitors can explore Darwin's greenhouse as well as the Sandwalk' where he took contemplative walks, and the study where he documented his findings.

Near to Down House, there's a village high street, with an impressive church which is a relic from the 13th century. The area also has two traditional country pubs, an Indian restaurant and a village hall.

Given its close proximity to central London and its rich history, it's no surprise that properties in Downe fetched an overall average price of £565,833 over the last year, according to Rightmove data.

In the past year, semi-detached properties made up the majority of sales in Downe, selling at an average price of £681,250. Terraced properties, on the other hand, sold for an average of £335,000.

However, it's worth noting that overall, sold prices in Downe over the last year were 50% down on the previous year and 27% down on the 2015 peak of £776,675.
