Regan Gascoigne has admitted that his newfound Dancing On Ice fame is "a bit overwhelming" and he's receiving X-rated pictures from admirers.

The professional dancer, whose father is football legend Paul Gascoigne, said he always "dreamed" of getting the chance to try Dancing On Ice.

He told The Sun that he has received plenty of attention from female fans since he debuted on the show, though he hasn't yet received any marriage proposals.

Gascoigne said: "I can’t actually say what they have been saying in the messages, it’s so embarrassing. But I’ve been laughing looking at them.

"It’s more rude pictures than anything else and I don’t know what to say in response It’s all been just a bit overwhelming."

Gascoigne said he "never wanted to use dad’s success to get my own success" and has sought to carve out his own path in the world of dance.

He admitted that his father's very public struggles with alcohol affected their relationship, but that things are patched up now and Paul has been in the audience of Dancing On Ice.

"I know a lot has happened in the past, but that’s done, there’s no point dwelling on it," said Gascoigne.

He added: “Myself and dad are similar now in that we live in the moment, focus on what’s in front of us, not what’s happened in the past.

“What’s the point? It doesn’t help anyone. I think it’s just clicked between us as I’ve got older because I’ve realised we’re so similar."

Gascoigne's impressive early performances have positioned him as one of the frontrunners to win the talent show, alongside professional skater partner Karina Manta.

He said: "I just have the passion for it. It’s not that I’m like ‘I want to win at all costs’, as if I would trip someone up to get ahead.
