Removal of Debris, Shipping Containers Continues at Site of Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Authorities dealing with the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore are continuing to remove debris from the site, as well as containers still on board the ship MV Dali.

The Key Bridge Response Unified Command said that by Thursday, April 11, 38 containers had been removed.

The aim of the operation is to access the parts of the Key Bridge that lie atop the ship and eventually reopen fully the Fort McHenry Channel. So far, 69 vessels have been able to transit through the area via temporary alternate channels.

Col Estee Pinchasin, of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, said “incredible progress” had been made this week. Credit: U.S. Coast Guard via Storyful
