Rescue dog hailed as hero after joining search for Mexico earthquake survivors

A Labrador has become the poster child of rescue efforts in the central Mexico earthquake, after it joined the search for survivors of the natural disaster. Frida, a member of the Mexican Navy’s Canine Unit, has been helping her human colleagues to search for survivors around Mexico City, where a 7.1 magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of at least 224 people. Throughout her short career, the seven-year-old dog has already saved 52 people from various accidents and disasters, according to the office of Mexico’s president. Her heroic actions have made her a social media sensation, with people across the world taking to Twitter to sing her praises.
