Residents block off their green with cars to stop travellers pitching caravans
A group of residents used their cars to form a blockade on their green against travellers.
Neighbours on the cul-de-sac in Bristol came together and ’circled their wagons’ to keep the travellers out.
They parked their cars around the grassy area in front of their homes at Stavordale Grove, Hengrove, south Bristol on Sunday.
The residents jumped into action after seeing a group of caravans pulling off the main road and into their estate.
Worried the travellers would pitch in the middle of their estate, the neighbours ran quickly to their cars and moved them into a circle around the grass.
One resident, known as Kirsty, said many people who live in the area were celebrating a child’s birthday at the time.

She said: ‘A group of them with their huge caravan descended upon our small cul-de-sac.
‘However, we were all out there celebrating a child’s birthday and told them where to go.
‘The residents parked on the green to stop them. Now we are staying parked there in fear they may return.’
