Year In Review 2017: Yahoo’s Most Searched Couples
It’s been a brilliant year for celebrity engagements, marriages and babies from the likes of Prince Harry popping the question to Meghan Markle, his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Duchess Catherine announcing she is pregnant, and tennis superstar Serena Williams tying the knot in a star-studded ceremony. Here, we count down the 11 couples Yahoo users have been searching for the most over the past 12 months:

11. Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian
Serena and Alexis tied the knot in front of a host of stars in November 2017, including the likes of Kim Kardashian and Beyonce. Following their nuptails, Alexis gushed about the tennis superstar, saying: “You are the greatest of all time, not just in sport”

10. Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley
They haven’t had the busies of years as a couple, but it just goes to show how popular Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley’s union is that they made it into this list. In July, they put on a loved-up display at the premiere of Dunkirk, which Tom had a starring role in.

9. Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron
Brigitte Macron moved into the worldwide spotlight in May 2017 when her husband Emmanuel Macron assumed the French Presidency. There is a 25-year age gap between the 64-year-old former literature teacher and the 39-year-old politician which is often talked about, but she insists it is “insignificant”.

8. Tom Jones and Priscilla Presley
Sir Tom Jones and Priscilla Presley were romantically linked earlier this year but they insisted they were not in a relationship. Sir Tom also admitted her late ex-husband Elvis Presley “probably wouldn’t be too sure” about the pair going out for dinner together.

7. Prince William and Duchess Catherine
Prince William and Duchess Catherine are often in the news on royal engagements, but they hit the headlines agains this year after announcing she is expecting their third child. The royal couple have son, Prince George, four, and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte.

Donald Trump is never out of the headlines and people are clearly keen to search for his wife Melania Trump now and again, too. She has to take a back seat in public as his outspoken views dominate the news pages.

5. Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan
Richard and Judy will always be known as the national treasures of morning TV having presented This Morning for more than a decade. Earlier this year, Richard admitted he and Judy are “finished” as a presenting pair because she is “not interested in broadcasting anymore”. Sad times.

YouTubers Pat and Jen love to vlog about video game Minecraft. Pat boasts a massive 12.9 million subscribers on his PopularMMOs page, while Jen’s aptly-named Gaming With Jen page has 3.2 million subscribers. They are rarely pictured together in public.

3. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
News of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship has been one of the stories of the year and the icing was placed on the cake of their romance in November when they revealed he popped the question earlier in the month. They are to marry in May 2018.

2. Ariana Grande and Mac Miller
Ariana Grande and Mac Miller have been dating since September 2016, but they narrowly missed out on being our most searched-for couple by just one place.
Ariana and Mac, known for his tongue-in-cheek rap songs, can often be seen posting pictures of each other on Instagram. They first kissed in the music video for their joint single The Way.

1. Cheryl Tweedy and Liam Payne
Congratulations to Cheryl Tweedy and Liam Payne on being the most searched-for couple this year. Interest was no doubt high during the month of March when the singer gave birth to their baby son Bear. Cheryl later said the tot has given her the “best six months of [her] life”.
