“RHOSLC”: Bronwyn Newport Slams Lisa Barlow for Repeating 'Damaging' Rumor She 'Faked a Miscarriage' to Avoid Daughter's Father
"You know how hurtful that would be to my daughter," Bronwyn told Lisa about the rumor she lied about miscarrying her daughter Gwen
Bronwyn Newport is taking a stand against Lisa Barlow.
In part one of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 reunion, Bronwyn confronted Lisa over the way she handled the realization that she knew the estranged paternal grandparents of Bronwyn's daughter Gwen. After opening up to Lisa about Gwen’s late father off-camera, Bronwyn accused Lisa of surfacing false rumors on the show.
“I can’t tell you a person other than Gwen I’ve ever shown a picture of Gwen’s father to,” Bronwyn explained, noting that her husband hadn’t even seen him until RHOSLC aired. “So when you said that I looked like Gwen, I don’t know why I felt like maybe this was this thing I could share with you. I could confide in you that Gwen looks like her dad and how much that hurts me. I felt like our friendship was falling apart and I was confiding these big things in you — I was letting you in in such a huge way with my daughter and this story — and your responses did feel like you were defending [her grandparents].”
“I knew that this was a super sensitive situation for Gwen and Bronwyn but also for a family that lost their son,” Lisa responded, saying she spoke to Gwen’s biological grandmother, who told her that she did not know Gwen existed.
“She was like, ‘The last we were told, Bronwyn had a miscarriage and there was no child,’” Lisa revealed. “And then her son who passed away’s wife reached out to Bronwyn and she was like, ‘We never got to meet Gwen.’ So it was really upsetting for them.”
Bronwyn snapped back at Lisa, saying that she shouldn’t have shared the details of that conversation on the RHOSLC after show without knowing whether or not it was true.
“We film the after show before the show airs, so I went off of talking innocently about my friend Bronwyn and how I feel for her and Gwen and how I also feel for another family,” Lisa said. “It’s not about their house, it’s not about the things they’ve accomplished, it’s about their hearts, and that’s how I know them. No matter whose perspective you’re going at it, it’s the most sad thing that could happen to anyone. I hurt for all of you guys.”

Despite Lisa’s tearful explanation, Bronwyn claimed the story she heard was “not what really happened.” In fact, Bronwyn said Lisa had mentioned it during filming but she had it cut out of the show.
“My dad called Gwen’s dad and her, I guess, grandparents, and we’re still waiting for a phone call back,” Bronwyn divulged in the unseen footage, to which Lisa replied: “I think she was told that you had a miscarriage and she said that we didn't hear differently, that's why I'm confused.”
Bronwyn then explained: “I asked production not to play those clips if possible because I did not want to say that he had any other details that would be identified. I wanted to be very careful what was said on camera about these people.”
She continued: “In the 18 years I've had Gwen, I have never told a single person who this person is. I've never asked for money. I've never said anything to them. So I was very careful. But you and I had a very clear conversation. You are entitled to believe your friends if you want to but you have been on TV for a long time — much longer than me — and you know that going on the after show and repeating that I faked a miscarriage, you know how damaging that would be to me. You know how hurtful that would be to my daughter.”
Lisa, however, said that she never claimed Bronwyn “faked” the miscarriage, insisting she was just sharing the story she had heard.
“She’s not gonna see this,” Bronwyn said under her breath, frustrated.
“I am in a lose lose lose situation!” Lisa proceeded to shout, but Bronwyn was not backing down.
“You have to see that you should not have said on the after show anything about this,” Bronwyn said.
“I should've never talked about them,” Lisa agreed. “I wish you never brought this to camera. I wish I would have never brought up their names.”
Bronwyn went on: “You’re saying stuff on camera that is horrifying to say.”
“You have said things that are horrible,” Lisa fired back, adding: “F--- you. You want to make me this horrible human being that I’m not.”
Reflecting on the conversation, Bronwyn said that she did not have a problem with Lisa believing Gwen’s grandparents’ story, but she didn’t feel it was right to bring up on camera.
“You could have at least started with, ‘I hurt your daughter by saying that,’” Bronwyn told Lisa. “Because it caused rumors, and you have been on the show long enough to know what saying that would do. You knew people would pick it up, you knew people would talk about it, and even if you didn’t think that through beforehand, you could sit here now and say, ‘Oh my God, yes, me saying that on the after show did do this.’”
“This was a very complicated position for anybody to be in,” Lisa said. “I would never want to hurt Bronwyn or Gwen. I understand the magnitude of what I was asked to do. It was a very heavy weight.”
She continued: “I feel like they have two very different experiences and if they talked they could figure it out.”
Bronwyn shut Lisa down, telling host Andy Cohen, “She’s not remorseful. She just keeps defending it.”
