Richard Madden receives bottles of water in hilarious Netflix apology

Richard Madden best be thirsty – he’s been sent boxes of Netflix branded water.

The Bodyguard actor, 32, recently revealed he had been denied a bottle of water on visiting Netflix headquarters, with staff insisting it was for “employees only”.

But the streaming service is clearly keen to make amends and sent Madden its “deepest apologies” in the form of a hilarious care package.

Madden posted a picture of red boxes filled with Netflix branded bottled water and an apology note which read: “Dear Mr Madden, our deepest apologies for the water bottle situation.

“Normally we give them out gladly, but your fans are always so thirsty… Love, Netflix.”

Madden recently revealed that he had a heated exchange with a Netflix employee who asked him to leave the building after he grabbed himself a bottle of water.

Recalling the awkward encounter on American talk show KTLA Morning News he said: “I walked in and I was told I was in the wrong building. They told me I had to go around the corner.

“There was fridge of Netflix branded water, and I said, ‘Cool, I’ll just grab a bottle of water’ which I was told, ‘No you’re not allowed to, it’s for Netflix-employees only’.”

Asked how he reacted he said: “I told them I am a Netflix employee. I am on a show. But they were like ‘Sir you have to put that water back now. You have to leave now, sir.”

Madden’s hit TV show Bodyguard is currently available on the streaming platform in the US.

He recently revealed he is in talks for a second series, telling fans he has set up a meeting with creator Jed Mercurio to pick his “brilliant brain”.

The gripping finale was watched by an audience of 17.1 million, making it the most watched episode of any drama series across all channels since records were first tallied in 2002.
