Jack Charles is determined to get Hull FC back to 'where they belong' after signing a new two-year deal at the club. The Black and Whites have long since tied the teenager's future up, with an improved contract now seeing Charles remain at the club until at least the end of the 2026 season.

The half-back has enjoyed a stellar rise over the last two years. After passing through the scholarship system, he joined the academy squad ahead of the 2023 season, playing for both Yorkshire and England.

Charles was then promoted to the first-team squad for 2024, making his senior debut against London Broncos back in March. In total, he has played eight senior games to date, with the player showing some encouraging signs as he looks to develop at the club.

He has been selected again for the England Academy squad to play France in July, with the former Beverley Braves junior hellbent on winning games with Hull and developing as a player under senior halves Jake Trueman and Jordan Abdull.

Speaking on his new deal, Charles said: "It’s a dream come true to represent my boyhood club, so to have signed a new contract here is an incredibly special moment for me.

"I still have plenty of learning ahead, but I want to be a part of getting this club back to where it belongs and putting some smiles back on the faces of our supporters over the next two years, and hopefully longer.

"Securing my future here means I can now concentrate on continuing to develop as a young player; having the likes of Jake Trueman as a mentor and Jordan Abdull from next season too is a mouth-watering prospect, and I know how much I can learn from both of them."

Richie Myler, meanwhile, has paid tribute to the way Charles has conducted himself this year, with Hull's Director of Rugby excited for what the 18-year-old can continue to produce in the future. He joins the likes of Lewis Martin, Davy Litten, and Logan Moy in signing new contracts, with Hull looking to base the core of their future squad on homegrown talent.

"Jack is one of the brightest young half-backs in the game, and we’re delighted to have him with us for the next two seasons," Myler added. "Stepping up to the senior environment isn’t easy for anyone, never mind for an 18-year-old who’s still only in his second year of the academy, but Jack has taken everything in his stride.

"He’s a bright young man with a good rugby league brain who’s keen to keep learning from those around him. It goes without saying that he is far from the finished article, but the early signs that he has shown during his time with us are promising, and that excites us as a club."
