Riders Rescued From Paulton's Park Rollercoaster

Fourteen people have been rescued from high above Paulton's Park in Hampshire after the brand new rollercoaster they were riding broke down.

The visitors were on the sit-down Velociraptor ride when it stopped around 45ft (14 metres) in the air.

The evacuation of the ride took about 30 minutes after the "technical issue" shortly after 11am.

The passengers were put in safety harnesses and walked down the ride one by one.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The rollercoaster was closed but all other rides at the park, which is also home to Peppa Pig World, remained open.

The Velociraptor attraction later reopened around 1pm.

An investigation is now under way to find out what caused the "fault" on the ride.

Rob Griffiths, head of marketing and communications at Paultons Park, said: "We can confirm that after 11am this morning we had to carry out a well-practised manual evacuation of the Velociraptor ride.

"Our first priority was to ensure all riders were safely removed from the ride.

"It was a minor fault soon rectified by the park's engineering team and the ride is now re-open.

"Guests are now enjoying this along with all the fantastic attractions in our new Lost Kingdom and the other rides around the park."
