Yahoo News Rings of Power actor confirmed not to be returning for season 2
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star Nazanin Boniadi will not return for the second season following her break from acting.
The star played Bronwyn in the first season of the Prime Video show, with the character owning an apothecary in the Southlands while having a romance with Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova).
Following the release of the first teaser for the upcoming second season, fans noticed that Bronwyn wasn’t present in the clip, leading to rumours that Boniadi wouldn’t return.

The speculation has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, with the character set to be absent from season two, which premieres on August 29.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise after Boniadi previously announced that she took a break from acting in September 2022, with the star sharing that she prioritised activism in the intervening months.
“A personal/professional update: I stepped away from acting in September 2022, to focus solely on the #WomanLifeFreedom uprising in Iran and to advocate for the people of my homeland who have been risking everything for freedom,” she wrote on Instagram earlier this month (May 8).
Whilst Boniadi will not be present, fans can rejoice that an iconic character from JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth universe will finally be brought to life, with Rory Kinnear confirmed to be playing Tom Bombadil.

“There’s a reason why he hasn’t been in prior adaptations, because in some ways he’s sort of an anti-dramatic character,” said The Rings of Power showrunner JD Payne. “He’s not a character who has a particularly strong agenda.
“He observes drama, but largely doesn’t participate in it. In The Fellowship of the Ring, the characters kind of just go there and hang out for a while, and Tom drops some knowledge on them.
"Weirdly, he’s kind of the most Lord of the Rings thing in Lord of the Rings, and also the first thing you would cut if you were adapting it as a film,” added co-showrunner Patrick McKay. “But we have the advantage of a television show, and hence why we are going to tap into that.”
