Police have arrested a second man in connection with the murder of Rishmeet Singh in Southall.

Rishmeet, 16, was stabbed to death in a fight with a large group in Raleigh Road at 9pm on Wednesday, November 25.

Detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder on Thursday. He remains in custody.

Police said Rishmeet’s family have been updated on the arrest and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The Met police were looking into reports of a stabbing following a fight involving a group of people. Rishmeet, who was from the local area, died at the scene a short time later.

He was the 28th teenager killed in the capital this year. It surpasses the previous record of 27 in 2017.

Detective Chief Inspector James Shirley, who is leading the investigation, said: “My thoughts continue to be with Rishmeet’s family and friends following this development in our investigation.

“While one man remains in custody, we still need anyone who has any information about the events that led up to Rishmeet’s death to come forward and speak to us.”

Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call the incident room on 0208 721 4266 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 7400/24Nov. Alternatively, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

A fundraiser has been set up to help Rishmeet’s mother which has already raised more than £45,000.
