Riverdale drops Black Hood bombshell in Xmas special

Riverdale wrapped up 2017 with a bombshell revelation about the Black Hood.

Like every other holiday in Riverdale, Christmas was quite a gloomy affair - aside from Veronica Lodge turning up the heat on her parents - in Wednesday's (December 13) festive episode 'Silent Night, Deadly Night'.

For starters, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) was still desperately trying to keep a secret from Betty (Lili Reinhart) that he'd made a secret pact to become Penny Peabody's (Brit Morgan) informant/drug-runner.

All of the tension made for a heartbreaking turn of events as they exchanged Christmas gifts, each leaving their true feelings unsaid.

Jughead was understandably keen to get himself and his dad out from under Penny's thumb, although his decision to lead a renegade faction of Serpents to kidnap her and spirit her off to Greendale was a bit rash.

When Penny rightly pointed out that her serpent tattoo made her untouchable, Jughead took the gruesome step of literally cutting the the mark of the snake off of her arm. Um, WTF?
