POLLING stations are now open – but there are some temporary road closures you should be aware of if you’re heading out to vote.

Several roads around the Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre are currently closed to help facilitate operations at the count venue.

The temporary closures will be in place up to and including Friday, July 5.

The affected roads are Kings Park Drive from its junction with Holdenhurst Road for its entire length, Kings Park Central Drive from its junction with Ashley Road to its junction with Kings Park Drive, and Gloucester Road from its junction with Kings Park Drive up to the entrance to the Cemetery.

These roads are closed to all vehicles except for permitted users. This includes no parking, no waiting and no loading/unloading. Any vehicles causing an obstruction risk receiving a penalty charge notice and being removed.

Access to the Kings Park Outdoor Pavilion polling station will not be impacted, and residents with this listed as their polling station can still drive there on election day.

In addition, some car parks are affected; Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre, Lorry/Coach Park, South Car Park and Stadium Car Park are closed until Friday, July 5, except for permitted users.

A spokesperson for BCP Council said: “We thank the public for their patience during these temporary road closures, as our staff and partners carry out their important work to support democracy.”
