Livingston want Robbie Muirhead to help fire them back into the Premiership.

The Lions are keen on the out-of-contract Morton striker who netted 17 goals last season for the Cappielow outfit. Morton boss Dougie Imrie has offered the 28-year-old a new deal but fears he won’t have the financial muscle of Davie Martindale’s side.

Livi know they will be dropping down to the Championship next season and Martindale is looking to rebuild a squad that can get them back out of it at the first time of asking. Muirhead has a proven goal record in the Championship and can also play on either flank or behind the striker. Livi are set to lose Joel Nouble and Bruce Anderson on freedom of contract, along with a large number of their squad. Defender James Penrice has also signed a pre-contract with Hearts.

Record Sport revealed yesterday that Kilmarnock were looking to beat Dundee to a deal for Anderson. The forward worked with Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes and Dundee chief Tony Docherty at Aberdeen.
