Rod Stewart And Penny Lancaster Make Their Children Work For Their Pocket Money

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster might have more fame and fortune than most of us could ever even dream of, but that doesn’t mean that their two children are spoilt rotten.

In fact, five-year-old Aiden and ten-year-old Alastair have to complete household chores for pocket money if they want to buy something, with Penny explaining that they want their sons to be taught the “values of life”.

She explained: “Yes, we have the money. If ever our boys say I want this or that, we are in the position to give them whatever they want. But that’s not how I believe we should teach children the values of life.

"Instead, Rod and I say, ‘Well, you’ll have to put it on your birthday list’. I try to be strict with the children and they have to do chores around the house to earn money and save up.

"They need to understand that our lifestyle is not the norm. They need to know they are very lucky - and they do, because I constantly tell them.”

Ten parenting points to Rod and Penny we reckon.

The star also opened up about the struggle she faced to have her two sons, adding to The Mirror: “After my miscarriage I feared I’d never have children. But when I looked into it, the statistics were high and sadly it’s quite common. The next time we tried, the following month, it was successful and Alastair came along.

"We decided to have another baby after we got married but it wasn’t so easy because I was of a certain age and had crossed over the threshold where your fertility plummets. It took three attempts of IVF before Aiden was born.

"IVF is very tough and I don’t think I could have gone on any further than I did. It’s very trying, physically and emotionally.”

We have absolutely no doubt that it was all worth it in the end.
