Rod Stewart’s concert in Aberdeen has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

Stewart, who is on tour to promote his new studio album, Blood Red Roses, was due to perform an open air concert at the AECC on Wednesday 12 June.

However, strong winds and bad weather has resulted in the concert promoters deciding to move the show to another date.

A statement from Cuffe & Taylor read: “Due to adverse weather conditions, this evening’s concert at AECC Outdoors has had to be postponed.

“Sir Rod and his team always believe the show must go on and this decision has not been taken lightly. However, due to the high winds and bad weather it would not be safe to go ahead with this evening’s concert.”

Fortunately, the concert has already been rescheduled with the promoters confirming that Stewart will return to the AECC in July.

“We are pleased to announce that working with the venue, we are able to reschedule the concert to Tuesday 16th July 2019,” the statement read.

Reassuring concert goers and fans that their tickets for the postponed event are still valid, the promoters added: “All existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date and ticket holders are not required to take any action.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this causes everyone but safety is our priority.”

Apologising for the date change, the Press and Journal reported Louise Stewart, Head of Marketing at AECC saying: “It’s unfortunate that circumstances out with our control have resulted in this event being postponed.

“We are sure that the 16th July will be a great night and we look forward to welcoming Rod and his fans for what will be our final farewell here at AECC.”
