The wait is almost over for the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Blu-ray and digital release.

One day after fansites seemed to stumble on an April release for the first-ever Star Wars anthology movie, Lucasfilm has announced that Rogue One is coming to home video in the UK on Monday, April 10.

Unfortunately that's two weeks later than the release date for the US, with our American friends getting the blockbuster on digital HD on Friday, March 24 and the Blu-ray on Tuesday, April 4.

The wealth of bonus features should cheer up anyone in the UK upset about that lengthy gap. The Blu-ray set is packed with individual documentaries for rebel leaders Jyn and Cassian and their snippy droid K-2SO as well as combined features for Baze and Chirrut, Bodhi and Saw and The Empire itself.

A Rogue Idea explores how visual effects supervisor John Knoll and his team at Industrial Light & Magic shaped the movie throughout its production, while The Princess & The Governor focuses directly on how the young Princess Leia and Grand Moff Tarkin were digitally recreated for key scenes.

There will be plenty of Easter eggs and the exciting Epilogue: The Story Continues, which will preview the future of the Star Wars franchise. For a full rundown of special features, click here.

The eyes of fans will now begin turning to long-awaited Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which recently revealed first-look photos of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and other returning characters.

A trailer for writer-director Rian Johnson's Episode VIII is expected soon as we march towards The Last Jedi's cinema release on December 15.
