Rolling road closures and parking restrictions ahead for village carnival

Road closures and parking restrictions have been announced for an upcoming village carnival. The restrictions will be in place across parts of Burbage on Sunday June 23, as the Burbage carnival returns for its annual event.

Leicestershire County Council will be using rolling road closures during the event. The road closures will start at 10am and finish at 4pm.

The roads affected include Windsor Street, Coventry Road, Pyeharps Road, Sketcheley Road, Boyslade Road, Twycross Road, Grove Road, Hinckley Road and Church Street.

In previous years, villagers have lined the streets to celebrate the event and watch the procession, including floats with much-loved characters. Floats have lined up in Windsor Street before making their way around the village.

The Burbage carnival and fireworks festival Facebook page confirmed the date of this summer's event this summer back in February and organisers were keen to hear suggestions as to what should be on the floats this year.
