Roman Kemp was the big winner at this year's TRIC Awards, taking home two gongs.

The 29-year-old radio DJ scooped the Radio Personality prize and his 'Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp' show won the Radio Programme gong at the ceremony, which took place at London's Grosvenor House on Wednesday (06.07.22).

Upon accepting the Radio Programme accolade - after beating off competition from 'Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden', and BBC Radio 2's 'The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show' and 'Sara Cox' - he told the crowd: "I just want to say thank you to everyone.

"There's some fantastic radio shows [among the nominations] that we listen to every day, post-show obviously, and steal all their ideas."

Elsewhere, ITV daytime shows had reason to celebrate with 'Good Morning Britain' taking home the Multi-Channel News award, and 'This Morning' winning the OK! Daytime gong.

But it was also a good day for former 'This Morning' presenter Eamonn Holmes, who won the News Presenter prize after joining GB News.

What's more, Ant and Dec scooped the TV Personality award, while 'The Chase' won best Game Show, and 'Strictly Come Dancing' waltzed off with the Reality prize.

Channel 4 show 'It's A Sin' triumphed in the New Drama category, beating off competition from 'Around the World in 80 Days', 'The Pembrokeshire Murders', and 'Vigil'.

'Emmerdale' won the battle of the soaps, with the ITV programme overcoming 'Coronation Street', 'EastEnders', and Holby City in the Soap of the Year category.

But 'Holby' - which aired its last-ever episode in March after 23 years - didn't leave the ceremony empty handed as Rosie Marcel, who played surgeon Jac Naylor in the BBC medical drama, won the Soap Actor accolade.

She beat off strong competition from 'Coronation Street' pair Sally Carman (Abi Webster) and Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald), as well as Emmerdale's Paige Sandhu (Meena Jutla).
