Romford stabbing: Man fights for life after being knifed in east London

A man was last night fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed in east London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene in Gibbfield Close, Romford, on Monday evening.

The victim, 31, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Barking and Dagenham Police said officers remained at the scene this evening.

In a statement on Twitter, it said: “Police are currently on scene in Gibbfield Close, Marksgate following a serious assault where a male has been stabbed.

“The victim is currently in a critical condition at an east London hospital. A crime scene is in place and enquiries continue.”

Scotland Yard later confirmed the victim’s injuries were no longer life-threatening.

A spokesman said: “A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital, where his injuries were confirmed as not life-threatening.”

No arrests have been made.
