Romney Campaign Blimp Brought Down To Earth

A blimp carrying an ad for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been forced to make an emergency landing in South Florida because of high winds.

Davie Police said the two people aboard the 160ft aircraft got out safely when it landed at around 7.10pm on Sunday.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that the blimp was travelling to North Perry Airport.

It was flying from Boca Raton, where Monday night's presidential debate between Mr Romney and Barack Obama is being held at Lynn University.

Police Captain Dale Engle said the deflated aircraft carried an advertisement that read: "America needs Romney."

No one on the ground was injured.
