Yahoo News Roseanne spin-off WILL happen with key cast returning
It's official: The cast of Roseanne - minus, well, Roseanne - will reunite once again on ABC.
ABC announced early Friday (June 21) that it had ordered 10 episodes of a spin-off tentatively called The Conners, after reaching a "settlement" with Roseanne Barr to prevent her from profiting financially or having creative input.
The Roseanne revival was cancelled by ABC last month after Barr wrote a racist tweet in which she compared former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman, to Planet of the Apes. Barr has since denied her intent was racist, and hit out at former co-stars for criticising her.

Barr said Friday: "I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne. I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved."
The initial cast confirmed for The Conners includes Sara Gilbert (aka Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (DJ), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and John Goodman (Dan). ABC made no mention of how The Conners would be writing out the Roseanne character.

The returning cast said in a joint statement: "We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it's clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience.
"We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter."
The Conners is expected to be on the air on ABC in time for the fall TV season.
